The establishment of Internal Quality Assurance Cell has been made compulsory for every University/ College, in order to progressively increase the internal quality of higher education in each university / college. To take the quality of higher education to excellent level, various seminars / workshops are being organized by the Council from time to time. 
IQAC has been established in 11 state universities of the state. The establishment of IQAC in Colleges is under process.  In this context, through UPDESCO, IQAC software has been developed by Higher Education Council through which Universities/ Colleges are instructed to create and present their internal quality report online. The main objective of this entire work plan is to get the evaluation of every university and college done from NAAC as early as possible. All the work related to IQAC is reviewed by Uttar Pradesh State Education Council.

Need of IQAC

IQAC is set up to improve the quality of education after evaluation by NAAC in higher educational institutions. The main function of IQAC is to develop a mechanism that can be helpful in continuous and catalytic improvement in the execution of educational institutions. IQAC makes important and useful contribution in relation to the re-accreditation of institutions. IQAC works only on the basis of the criteria mentioned earlier.

Mission of IQAC

Mission of IQAC is to ensure the development of the standard in relation to the various activities of the educational institutions, as a main function. Its main aim also includes spreading the information related to its quality and to organize debates, workshops and seminars etc., to increase the quality of education from time to time. This cell also ensures to use its standards to make the quality of education more successful, by obtaining information through continuous recording and monitoring of its activities using its standards, working as a nodal agency, preparing the Annual Quality Assurance report and forwarding it to UGC and NAAC.

Objectives of IQAC

  • To create a cautious, continuous and stimulated development system in all the higher education institutions within the state.
  • To facilitate higher education for all sections of the society.
  • Exchanging research work at national and international level and establishing a network.
  • To ensure the relevance of academic courses and research work.
  • To ensure accountability for quality in education of educational institutions amongst students, parents, professors, personnel and society associated with higher education and maintain the credibility of the evaluation process for accretion in higher education.
  • To incorporate new methods of teaching in higher education and utilizing it completely

Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:
  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks
  • The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes
  • Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning
  • The credibility of evaluation procedures
  • Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and functioning of the support structure and services
  • Research sharing and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.

Functions and Activities of IQAC

  • To develop standards regarding the diverse activities of educational institutions by IQAC and ensuring its use.
  • To disseminate quality related information.
  • Conduct debates, workshops, seminars etc. for the accretion of quality of education.
  • Recording and monitoring of quality standards of educational institutions.
  • Working as a nodal agency for educational institutions for the activities related to the accretion of quality.
  • Preparing Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other report as may be ensured from time to time.

Composition

IQAC may be constituted in every institution under the Chairmanship of the Head of the institution with heads of important academic and administrative units and a few teachers and a few distinguished educationists and representatives of local management and stakeholders

The composition of the IQAC may be as follows:
  • Chairperson: Head of the Institution
  • A few senior administrative officers
  • Three to eight teachers
  • One member from the Management
  • One/two nominees from local society, Students and Alumni
  • One/two nominees from Employers /Industrialists/stakeholders
  • One of the senior teachers as the coordinator/Director of the IQAC
